Carol's Fitness Journey with YvetteI had always loved to work out, but didn’t live a healthy lifestyle when I was younger. Then my husband had a serious health issue and shortly after I lost my best friend to cancer. That was when I became serious about working out . I began with FitTV shows and discovered Cathe Friedrich. I started buying used videos on Ebay and worked up to a 6-day rotation using her videos. I was in my 40s and in the best shape of my life. Around that time, 2006, an LAFitness opened very close to my home, and my daughter who was a teenager at the time, asked for a membership for her birthday and started going there. Shortly after she attended a class with Yvette and came home raving about how amazing it was. I was skeptical because classes I had attended tended to be at a lower fitness level, but she convinced me to attend a kickboxing class with Yvette on a Saturday morning as a guest. Yvette was amazing and I was hooked and joined the gym just to attend Yvette’s classes. When Yvette left LA fitness I did too and followed her to her basement and to Ron’s and eventually to Yvette Salva Fitness in Spotswood.  However, a few years ago I had some health setbacks of my own that made me cut way back on my workouts and I stopped working out with Yvette. I also wasn’t eating well and put on about 25 pounds. I didn’t fit into any of my clothes and was pretty miserable. Then I started training again with Cris a while ago and got serious about eating well and tracking my food. Once Cris started teaching classes I was able to add a second workout each week with Cris , and I think that second time a week has really made a difference in my fitness level. Cris pushes me past my comfort zone and challenges me to get to the next level. I have lost 15 pounds over the last couple of months, gained muscle and definition and am 10 pounds away from my weight goal. I know the last ten pounds are the hardest, but I also know that I my training with Cris at Yvette Salva Fitness will significantly help me reach my goals. I am turning 57 this summer and am close to again being in the best shape of my life.
